Nancy Wey papers, 1850-1994 (bulk 1973-1983)

Contains personal correspondence, resumes, employment information, newsclippings featuring Nancy Wey, and miscellaneous materials. Her writings are handwritten, typescripted, and photocopied including a dissertation on Mu-ch'i and Zen painting, book reviews, East West newspaper articles, and papers relating to Asian art, Chinese American history, historical sites, and Asian American issues. The majority of the collection contains correspondence and materials from various research projects including research files consisting of Asian American subjects, biographies, historical sites by states and counties within Calif. as well as photographs, negatives, microfilms, slides and cassette tapes with recorded interviews. Also contains teaching files from San Jose State University, California State University at Long Beach, San Francisco State University, and other teaching assignments and grants. Includes Eastern Streams organization materials, correspondence, press releases, exhibition programs and announcements. Also includes professional and community conference materials and organization files consisting of correspondence, minutes, announcements, newsletters and miscellaneous printed materials.

Nancy Wey was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1931 and developed an interest in her mixed ancestry, most significantly, her Chinese heritage.
